Automatic Graphical Installation
The automatic graphical installation is designed for inexperienced users and only provides a very limited set of options to keep it simple.
Detailed instructions for the graphical installation procedure and package download links can be found in the Admon Installation Guide.
In case you are already familiar with BeeGFS or just want to see a short quick-start installation reference, you might want to jump directly to the Installation Commands Walk-Through Example.
Detailed instructions for the manual installation procedure and repository URLs can be found in the Manual Installation Guide.
If you want to download repository files or BeeGFS packages directly, you can find them here.
Note: If you need professional support for a distribution, for which you can’t find the appropriate packages here, you might want to contact us and ask whether it is possible to run BeeGFS on your system.
Updating, Upgrading and Versioning
BeeGFS uses a date-based versioning scheme (YYYY.MM) to define major release series and an incremental versioning scheme (r1, r2, r3, …) to define maintenance updates within a major release series. Maintenance updates typically contain improvements, but can also contain new features.
Updating within the same major release series
Within the same major release series, all client and server versions can be mixed.
To update to the lastest BeeGFS maintenance update within your current major release series, simply use the standard update mechanism of your Linux distribution, e.g. “yum update” on RHEL.
